Will the bus driver make change?
The bus driver can’t make change, so please have the exact fare ready.
Where do I get the bus?
Over 550 Citybus stops are located throughout the city, every 2 or 3 blocks along the routes. They are clearly marked with Citybus signs. All Citybus routes meet at the Transit Center on Elm Street behind City Hall.
How do I transfer to another bus?
Ask the driver for a Transfer Ticket when you are on the bus.This ticket is only valid on the next available bus.
When do I tell the driver where I’m getting off?
A block before you are getting off, press the yellow tape inside the bus to signal the driver.
Can I play my music device on the bus?
Music can distract or annoy other passengers. Earphones only, please.
Can I talk on my cell phone on the bus?
Cell phone calls can distract or annoy other passengers. Earphones only, please, and keep your call brief.
Can I smoke on the bus?
Smoking and alcohol consumption are not allowed on the bus.
Can I eat lunch on the bus?
Open food and drink are not allowed on the bus.
Can I bring my bike on the trip?
Yes, bikes ride for free if there’s room on the bike rack. You must load and unload the bike yourself. Our bike racks fit three (3) bikes.
How many bags can I bring on the bus?
You can bring on only what you can carry on in one trip, and you must be able to store the bags in the area where you are sitting.
Can I bring a baby stroller on the bus?
Yes. It must be folded up and stored in between or under seats; strollers are not allowed in the aisle. We recommend that your baby ride in your lap during the trip.
Where can I get a route map?
Printed maps are available at the Transit Center on Elm Street and the Transit Office on Riverside Street, as well as various businesses around the city. You can also print out your own route map right from this website.
